Valir Midwest City has a new location!
Beginning October 3rd, 2011, Valir will be at 7005 SE 15th Street, Suite 200.
We're excited about our new clinic, located at the corner of Air Depot & SE 15th Street, inside the Chase Bank building! Come by and see our new space!!

Our primary goal at Valir Physical Therapy in Midwest City is to provide the type of care we would want our own grandparents, parents or children to receive. We are family oriented, which can be seen in our daily interaction with patients. We care about our patients and want to make an impact not only on their physical condition, but also their emotional and spiritual well-being. We feel that we have a great responsibility to always be on our A game, and we work hard as a team to achieve the best outcome possible.

We also believe in education, with each therapist attending a minimum 30 hours of continuing education per year. This ensures that we always use up-to-date evaluation and treatment techniques. Each clinician has been studying the McKenzie approach to spine and extremity care for several years, and at this time, all of our therapists are actively studying for the orthopedic clinical specialist examination.

All our full-time physical therapists have advanced graduate-level educations from the University of Oklahoma School of Rehabilitative Sciences.

Our clinic specializes in orthopedic, sports, aquatic, and spinal rehabilitation, with special emphasis on postoperative orthopedic care, running and cycling injuries, chronic and acute spinal injuries and injury-prevention programs. We also work closely with area physicians and their patients with balance disorders, unstable gait and acute neurological diseases such as cerebral vascular accidents and Parkinson's disease.

We love what we do here at Valir in Midwest City, and we are confident that we can achieve great success with each of our patients. But don't take our word for ittake a look at our success stories and see for yourself.

If you have any questions or would like to stop by for a free consultation and learn if physical therapy would be beneficial to you or your family, please call us at 405.610.2488. We are open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. We often take lunchtime appointments, and we see acute patients on the same day if necessary.

Eric Browning, MPT, OCS, graduated from the University of Oklahoma Physical Therapy program in 2002 with a master’s degree in physical therapy. He began working at Oklahoma Physical Therapy, an outpatient setting focused on orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and spine care. He used those first couple of years to continue to further his expertise in the osteopathic manual intervention approach, exercise prescription and progression, and developed a niche practice in treating jaw and TMJ related disorders.

Eric transitioned to the Oklahoma Center for Athletes where he continued to provide the orthopedic, spine and niche-based interventions. He was able to work more closely with people with gait disorders, specifically people with amputation. After two years, Eric stepped into private practice as a member of Keith Physical Therapy. It was here Eric began fabricating in-house orthotics for management of foot pain and disorders. He served as a clinic manager and focused on marketing and media development of the clinic.

Eric created a musculoskeletal risk analysis program in 2007 which was featured in ADVANCE for PTs and PTAs for innovation and technology advances in PT. He has been featured on local news and newspapers for the same program. He remains committed not only to tertiary care, but the importance of prevention, wellness and empowerment of the individual through education and motivation.

Eric has served as an adjunct professor since 2003 at the University of Oklahoma, helping teach spine related courses and management of jaw disorders to students of physical therapy and medical faculty. He has also been a clinic instructor for students since 2003, providing an environment for learning and application of therapy principles. Eric has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) since 2000, and has served on the membership committee and nominating committee chair for OPTA.

Eric is married with a son, and enjoys both outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and travel, and involvement in his local church.

Joy Ferreira Kincannon, DPT, grew up locally in Del City and graduated from Del City High School in 2005. For her undergraduate work, she attended the University of Oklahoma, then transitioned to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2011. She was inducted into Alpha Eta, the national honor society for the allied health professions, in 2010. During her education in the physical therapy program, Joy developed a passion for outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, as well as sports medicine and manual therapy techniques. She has held leadership positions such as fundraising chairperson for the Student Physical Therapy Association (SPTA) and student-faculty representative for her class. Joy has also been a participant in professional organizations, such as Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Joy decided to become a physical therapist when she was in 8th grade, and has never wavered in her decision. She is excited to be working in our MWC clinic under the mentorship of Eric Browning MPT, the manual therapy guru. Joy is recently married and lives in Del City with her husband and tiny Pomeranian.

Jennifer Spinelli, MPT, attended undergraduate school at Oral Roberts University, followed by graduate school at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, where she received her master's degree in physical therapy. She worked in Pennsylvania at an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic with a manual therapy emphasis before moving back to the Oklahoma City area to join the Valir team in Midwest City. Jenny enjoys the sports medicine, orthopedics and manual therapy treatment combinations that allows greater success getting patients back to their everyday activities. She especially enjoys the opportunity to establish rapport and a good working relationship with her patients. Jenny is currently working towards her mechanical diagnostics certification (cert MDT).

When not working, Jenny enjoys exercising, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She also looks forward to volunteering each year for Endeavor Games and the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon medical team.

Leslie Norrid, PTA, also joined Valir Physical Therapy in Midwest City at its inception in 2004. Leslie has worked with David Haynes as a PT tech and office manager since 2001, and she is currently employed as a PTA, dating back to 2001. Leslie graduated cum laude from Oklahoma City University in 2001 with a bachelor's of science degree in physical education. While at OCU, she participated in varsity women’s basketball and won three national championships in her four years of competition. Leslie went on to attend Oklahoma City Community College’s physical therapy assistant program, where she earned an associate's degree in applied science in May 2008 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an athlete herself, Leslie is able to identify with athletes and is passionate about helping them return to the sports they love as quickly as possible.
