Physical Therapy
Physical therapy (PT) helps restore and improve movement and physical function that has been impaired or threatened by disability, injury or disease. Valir's physical therapists develop individualized exercises and stretches that are appropriate for the patient's unique condition. These exercises help teach the patient such functions as how to move in bed, how to move from one surface to another, and how to use assistive devices.
Occupational Therapy Occupational therapy (OT) helps patients regain their independence and ability to manage such daily tasks as dressing, bathing, eating, performing the activities of one's job or hobbies and the use of necessary assistive devices. Valir's occupational therapists work with physical therapists in customizing exercise and stretching programs for patients.
Speech Therapy Speech therapy (ST) helps patients overcome any language or speech-related barriers associated with their illness or injuries. Speech therapy also helps patients overcome swallowing difficulties.
Recreational Therapy Recreational therapy helps patients adapt to and enjoy those activities they participated in prior to their illnesses or injuries.
Aquatic Therapy Aquatic therapy is water-based exercise intended to help rehabilitate the body using the constant resistance of warm water. This type of therapy helps relax the body and allows patients to move with greater mobility and less pain.
Respiratory Therapy Respiratory therapy helps patients strengthen the muscles that are used in breathing. It also helps them learn how to conserve energy and breathe efficiently and comfortably. Additionally, respiratory therapy helps those patients who are utilizing ventilators learn how to breathe independently.
Dietitian
The clinical dietitian ensures that patients eat and drink exactly what their bodies need to regain strength and wellness.

 | Case Management and Social Services
Each patient of Valir Rehabilitation Hospital is assigned a case manager. Valir's case managers serve as the liaison between the patient, family, treatment team and insurance company. At the time of discharge, they also help arrange for any equipment or continued services that may be necessary.
Chaplain
The hospital chaplain provides spiritual education and support, and leads nondenominational church services each Sunday for patients and their families.
